Amity was founded by two brothers who had immigrated to Oregon over the Oregon Trail. Ahio Watt became the first teacher of the town and named it Amity. Joseph Watt established the first woolen mill in all of Oregon and in 1868 shipped the first instance of wheat to England.
Amity is now home of the “warriors”. It is located just 10 minutes South of McMinnville along Hwy99W and remains a rural town known for its rolling vineyards and open skies. If you’re looking to live the country lifestyle, but don’t want the activities and resources out of reach Amity is perfect. This little community is only a skip and a jump from wine tasting rooms, restaurants, boutique shops and community events from the neighboring towns. Amity’s Elementary, Middle and High school are all located on the same main street just a small walking distance from anywhere in town. This creates that close-knit down-home warrior school pride that is perfect for families with school aged children.
Amity offers all the classic career opportunities; fire fighters, police officers, mail-man, farmers, teachers, nurses, and doctors. But there is also great opportunity for those with an entrepreneurial spirit wanting to start up a small business. As well as Tradesmen looking to keep things rooted in tradition.
